Thanks for the prayers! Woohoo God!

She grew!
She is 5th percentile (up from 3rd last time) on the standard growth chart and 75th on the Turner's (which includes treated girls). Yahoo!!! The doctor predicts she will not fall off the growth chart until she is 7 or 8. She was pretty upset by the blood work to check her Thyroid but we treated her to a Lion's Choice cone, plus she got to go to Gigi's so I think she is pretty glad too.

Let's Eat
Let's Eat is my favorite section of the paper. I used to clip a ton of recipes each week. Now I restrain myself to the occasional clipworthy recipe that is doable in an hour or less and has fewer then 100 ingredients. I don't know if I was just hungry today but I saw a mouthwatering recipe for Fish Tacos, which I have never had and usually don't appeal to me. I am going to try it! A Kirkwood woman created it, and she is a finalist for the Pillsbury bake-off. The shells of the tacos are fried biscuit dough, and the filling is lime marinated tilapia. Sounds awesome!!!! Btw, there was a recipe for Molasses Puffs too (Mom and Manda, I am going to try this!!). Here is the story and the recipe:
Let's Eat Recipe Card
Zesty Lime-Fish Tacos
Yield: 4 servings
1 pound tilapia fillets (about 4)
1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from 2 to 3 limes), divided
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
1 (16.3-ounce) can large-size refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (8 biscuits)
6 tablespoons canola oil, divided
1 1/2 tablespoons finely chopped chipotle chiles in adobo sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup salsa
1/2 cup sour cream
1 1/2 cups shredded cabbage
Lime wedges, for optional garnish
1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Cut each fish fillet lengthwise into 4 strips. In a shallow glass dish, mix 7 tablespoons lime juice with garlic. Add fish; turn to coat. Let stand while preparing biscuits.
2. On a work surface, mix flour and cornmeal. Separate dough into 8 biscuits. Press both sides of each biscuit into flour mixture, then press or roll into a 6- to 7-inch round.
3. In a 12-inch nonstick skillet, heat 1 1/2 tablespoons oil over medium heat. Add 2 biscuit rounds; cook about 1 minute on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Place on cookie sheet; keep warm in oven. Cook remaining rounds, adding 1 1/2 tablespoons oil to skillet for each batch. Wipe skillet clean.
4. Heat same skillet over medium-high heat. Add fish and lime juice mixture, chiles, salt and pepper; cook about 5 minutes, turning fish once, until fish flakes easily with fork.
5. In a small bowl, mix salsa, sour cream and remaining 1 tablespoon lime juice.
6. Using a slotted spoon, remove fish and divide evenly among biscuit rounds. Top each with cabbage and 1 to 2 tablespoons salsa mixture. Fold biscuit rounds in half over filling. Serve with any remaining salsa mixture. Garnish with lime wedges, if desired.

No They Don't!
Interesting Convo (what I can remember of it) this morning...maybe a little too soon for this one.
T-man: God made us.
Papa: Yes, and Mama and Papa helped too.
T-man: No you didn't.
Papa: Don't you think you were in Mama's belly?
T-Man: Yah..... how did I get out?
Papa: A hole.
T-Man: What happened to the hole?
Papa: It's still there. Babies come out of a Mama's vagina.
T-Man (smiling): No they don't!
Mama and Papa proceed to laugh.

UP2HIM
God is talking to me through license plates. I know, it sounds crazy but when you read God's words and the same message over and over again, well then you have to say "I hear you God......... and I am a little scared".
Case in point: I have been hearing and reading the message over and over again to submit ALL aspects of your life to God's will and that when you do then you will truly see the depth of God's goodness. Then today while driving I was at a stoplight and saw the license plate "UP2HIM". Eek!
You know you are in trouble when...
the children are big enough (and bold enough) to storm the fridge and the pantry.

Parade
Three great things in Parade today:
1) This article "Make Happiness Happen" : http://www.parade.com/health/2010/01/17-make-happiness-happen.html
2) An offer for a FREE copy of Jillian Michaels new book Master Your Metabolism : http://www.jillianmichaels.com/parade - I am reading this book and it is interesting how diet and environment can throw our hormones out of whack, scary too though.
3) Brief blip on Meryl Streep as Julia Child's in Julie & Julia (which I loved!). Amy Adams is always good but Meryl Streep as Julia Child...WOW! Such a joyful and unique person! I may put her biography "My Life in France" on my to-read list.

Four Eyes Forever
I was evaluated for LASIK surgery last night and honestly I was pretty cut by the results. I guess the thought of not being visually handicapped at times (I have to feel for my glasses in the morning) gave me a little warm and fuzzy hope. Although, knowing this is considered cosmetic and very expensive, well I was praying to do the right thing.
They told me because I had thin corneas and a very high prescription I wasn't really a good candidate (borderline). They could however do lense implantation for only $2000 more than the LASIK ($6000). Visian (lense implantation) hasn't been around as long and is a little more invasive. Plus, if my eyes change anymore, and they have just in the last few years, I'm hosed!
So I got a pretty good gut feeling that this wasn't for me and I went ahead and ordered new glasses. I am thankful though that I have sight at all and the resources to see well. One thing to look forward to though, in heaven I will have perfect vision :-)

Muppets "The Cat Came Back"
My Dad used to sing this song when we were little. Extreme animal lovers beware, they try to get rid of the cat :-) However, check the cat out laughing at them the last couple times, he is a crack-up. Also note poor Benny at the end. Funny stuff.

Good verse for the new year
Isaiah 43:18-19 (New International Version)
18 "Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland.
Escape or Fulfillment
"If you are yielded to Christ, your life is not a series of accidents; it is a series of appointments.".....
"That God has a plan for you is vitally important. If God doesn't have a plan, then life has no meaning. Suffering is in vain; sacrifice is meaningless. If there is no design for our lives, then there is nothing to fulfill and the logical thing to do is escape. But there is a heavenly design. The will of God for you is the expression of His love for you. This explains that wonderful promise, Romans 8:28: "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
